DeGette Comments on Jobs Report Showing Another Month of Decline


DENVER - Chief Deputy Whip Diana DeGette (D-CO) issued the followingstatement today on the disturbing jobs report from the US LaborDepartment, which showed that the US economy lost 63,000 jobs inFebruary, the largest monthly job decline in nearly five years.

WASHINGTON – As energy prices continue to rise, oil approaching $102per barrel and gasoline costing $3.15 at the pump, Energy and CommerceCommittee Vice Chair Diana DeGette (D-CO) today supported the RenewableEnergy and Energy Conservation Tax Act, which ends unnecessarysubsidies to big oil companies and invests in clean, renewable energyand energy efficiency. The measure passed on a vote of 236 to 182.
