Internship Opportunities with Congresswoman Diana DeGette

Now Accepting Spring 2026 Internship Applications for D.C. and Denver Offices. Deadline to Apply – November 30, 2025
Internships are available year-round in both the Washington, D.C. and Denver offices. Interns gain hands-on experience working alongside congressional staff and serve an essential role in supporting day-to-day operations
- Eligibility: Open to currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students
- Commitment:
- Denver Office: Minimum 15 hours/week for at least 2 months
- D.C. Office: Minimum 20 hours/week for at least 2 months
- Compensation: Interns receive a monthly stipend, determined by the number of hours worked.
Eligibility for Paid Internships
Federal law requires an individual receiving federally appropriated funds (including the internship stipend) to be:
- A U.S. citizen;
- A non-citizen U.S. national;
- A lawful permanent resident in the process of naturalizing; or
- A refugee or individual granted asylum who has filed a declaration of intention to become a lawful permanent resident.
- NOTE: Individuals with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status are currently not eligible to receive the federally funded stipend.
- Congresswoman DeGette was a cosponsor of the American Dream Employment Act (H.R. 2029) during the 117th Congress, which would allow DACA recipients to receive federal compensation.
Washington, D.C. Office Internships
Interns in Congresswoman DeGette’s Washington, D.C. office will gain firsthand experience with the legislative process and Capitol Hill operations. They will assist with various tasks such as answering phones, sorting and managing mail, attending briefings, drafting constituent correspondence, and providing research support to legislative staff. This opportunity provides a unique insight into the workings of Congress and the important role staff plays in the legislative process.
Denver District Office Internships
Interns in the Denver office will learn about constituent services and community engagement. Their responsibilities will include assisting constituents with navigating federal agencies, supporting staff at local events and community meetings, and referring constituents to relevant resources. They will also provide project assistance to staff, gaining valuable experience in district-level operations and understanding the role of a Congressional district office in serving the community.
