Three House Democrats are questioning the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) decision to postpone a training that was part of a series on environmental inequity faced by communities of color and low-income communities last month.

The EPA's decision to put off the event came in response to a White House memo telling agencies to "cease and desist from using taxpayer dollars to fund...divisive, un-American propaganda training sessions."

Two amendments from U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette will be included in a clean energy bill under consideration, one to limit methane emissions from extraction operations on public land and the second to require the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to identify and remediate at least 100 communities suffering under violations of environmental law.

After a whistleblower complaint made public this week about alleged nonconsensual medical operations performed on detained immigrant women, Denver Democratic U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette is calling for the Department of Homeland Security's inspector general to investigate.

"If true, the severe medical neglect that allegedly took place at this ICE facility is unconscionable and constitutes a blatant disregard for human life," said DeGette, along with U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., in a statement.

U.S. Reps. Diana DeGette (D-Colorado) and Jason Crow (D-Colorado) held a press conference Tuesday outside the downtown Denver post office to discuss what they call a "rapidly evolving crisis" at the U.S. Postal Service.

The lawmakers were joined by Colorado residents whose lives and livelihoods are being impacted by efforts from President Donald Trump's administration to slow down the mail.

DeGette said in the last few weeks, her office has been inundated with more than 12,000 calls, emails and letters from concerned constituents over the matter.

U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette is among the Colorado Democrats calling on Congress to put its stamp on the "unfolding crisis" involving the president and the U.S. Postal Service.

"The president of the United States is trying to shut down the U.S. Postal Service to help his chances in the upcoming election," DeGette, who has represented Denver in Congress for 24 years, alleged in a Sunday morning statement. "This is an unprecedented attack on our Democracy and it's imperative that Congress return to Washington immediately to address it."

Two Democratic members of Congress from Colorado were able to get their long-sought wilderness wishes into the $740 billion defense spending bill that passed the House Tuesday.

U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette's bill to protect nearly 1.4 million acres of wilderness in Colorado, California and Washington passed the House Tuesday afternoon as part of a National Defense Authorization Act.

The bill passed 295-125, a veto-proof majority, which matters since the president has threatened to veto the bill that calls for renaming military bases named after Confederate generals.

Colorado Congresswoman Diana DeGette lead a committee hearing into how American companies are doing when it comes to developing a vaccine for coronavirus. The Democrat who represents Denver chaired the House committee with executives from five committees Tuesday morning.

She started the hearing a hopeful note.

"It is possible that a COVID-19 vaccine may become available by the end of this year or early next year," DeGette said. "That's a rare bit of good news in this harrowing time."
