Colorado Congresswoman Diana DeGette helped introduce legislation to ban the sale, manufacturing, transfer or possession of high-capacity gun magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition. That legislation was part of a package of eight gun safety bills that will head to the full U.S. House for a vote that could come as early as next week.

As a new shipment of baby formula arrives in the United States from Germany, U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette, representing Colorado's 1st District, led a hearing today with the FDA and the Abbott factory at the center of the formula shortage. As CBS4 Political Specialist Shaun Boyd reported, DeGette is leading a federal inquiry into the shortage.

DeGette is the Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee's Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.

Colorado Congresswoman Diana DeGette is leading a federal inquiry into the nation's baby formula shortage. DeGette is the Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee's Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. She is also a new grandmother who understands the sense of panic and urgency gripping parents.

"I just had my first little grandbaby a couple of months ago and luckily she's not on formula but, as anybody who's had a baby knows, that could change in a day or two," DeGette said.

A member of Colorado's Congressional delegation has convinced the Army Corps of Engineers to invest $350 million in improvements to the South Platte River. It's part of a big project the city announced last year.

The project will focus on 6 1/2 miles of the river that runs through Denver.

Rep. Diane DeGette, a Democrat who represents Colorado's 1st Congressional District, made the request. She calls the river "a vital part of Denver's ecosystem."
