DeGETTE RESPONDS TO ANNOUNCEMENT OF $17M USDOL GRANT TO CCD
DENVER– U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette (CO-1) issued the following statement in response tothe U.S. Department of Labor's announcement they were awarding a $17.26 millionTrade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Grant(TAACCCT) to the Community College of Denver (CCD). The grant providesfor CCD member institutions to partner with local employers to help unemployedand underemployed Colorado workers receive the training they need to find jobsin the energy industry.

"Withso many Coloradoans still struggling to find employment, our number onepriority must be to find ways to get our state and our nation back towork. This grant will provide extraordinary opportunity for unemployedand underemployed Colorado workers to earn hands-on training and experiencethey need to increase their ability to find jobs in the growing energy industryand make them competitive for the 21st century global economy. Because of the innovative public-private partnerships encouraged by this grant,the workers who benefit from this funding will be trained to meet the specificneeds of local job-creators, helping those businesses to grow and prosper, andstrengthening the local economy overall.

As a fourth-generation Coloradoan I have seen first-hand the incredible impactresponsible energy development has had on our state's economy.
