WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette (CO-1) submitted the following comments yesterday to the U.S. Forest Service in response to their proposed Colorado Roadless Rule. The Forest Service is considering a state-specific rule to manage inventoried roadless areas on national forest lands in Colorado, rather than complying with the national rule. Despite having slightly stronger protections than an earlier state-specific version, the proposed rule falls short of the standard existing under the national rule and lacks critical safeguards for Colorado's national forests.
"As a fourth-generation Coloradoan, I know firsthand that Colorado's beautiful lands are one of our state's greatest resources," said DeGette.
