Ranking Member DeGette Blasts Trump/Musk Attacks on Health Care
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, at the first Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee hearing of the 119th Congress, Ranking Member Diana DeGette (CO-01) highlighted the negative impact the Trump administration’s early actions have had on our country’s health care system.
“Americans deserve affordable and accessible health care, yet none of the Trump administration’s extreme actions have done anything to lower health care costs or improve quality. He has rescinded an executive order to lower prescription drug costs, he has ground lifesaving research to a halt, and he has allowed culture wars to dictate clinical guidance instead of science. Trump and Elon Musk are pursuing an unpopular and dangerous agenda to gut Medicaid to pay for tax cuts for billionaires, and it will only worsen the care crisis too many in our country are currently experiencing. Democrats on the Health Subcommittee are ready to find serious bipartisan solutions to secure affordable health care for every American, and we won’t allow unelected billionaires to dictate our policy.”
