DeGette Travels to Copenhagen as Part of Official Congressional Delegation
COPENHAGEN – As the world gathers in Copenhagen, Denmark for the United Nations Climate ChangeConference (COP 15), U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO), the Vice Chair of theCommittee on Energy and Commerce and a member of the official bipartisanCongressional delegation, released the following statement:
"I am pleasedto be a part of the Congressional delegation to this important conference inCopenhagen. Our goal is to show the world that the United States Congress iscommitted to tackling climate change, both in our own country and by assistingother nations on the path to sustainability," saidDeGette. "The House has already acted by passing forward-thinkinglegislation that aims to cut global warming pollution 83 percent by 2050, whichwill stimulate our economy and create green jobs and businesses. The science isclear that our climate is changing from manmade causes, and this is an historicopportunity for the world community to come together and commit to collectivelyaddressing our common challenge."
