DeGette statement on the State of the Union address

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO) released the following statement after President Biden concluded his State of the Union address:

“Tonight, President Biden laid out a roadmap for how we build on the progress of the past three years. From ending gun violence to speeding up our transition to renewable energy sources to protecting Medicare and Social Security, his vision is an inspiring one – and it’s shared by the American people.”

“His commitment to protecting reproductive rights could not be more timely, especially with the extreme policies House Republicans continue to push for, including a nationwide abortion ban and stripping IVF access. President Biden is right – we can’t allow this to happen because America is about freedom. Freedom to make your own health care decisions. 

“I look forward to continuing to work with President Biden and his administration so that the state of our Union remains strong.”
