DeGette statement on president’s budget proposal

March 28, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following is a statement from U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO) on the president's budget proposal released today:

"The president's budget proposal shows how determined this administration is to provide real relief to hardworking families across this country. It would make health care and higher education more accessible; it would make child care and housing more affordable; and it would lower the cost of prescription drugs and other goods that most American families buy every day – all while making the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share.

"In addition to addressing rising prices and helping more Americans make ends meet, this proposal shows that President Biden and his administration remain fully committed to our effort to create a new advanced research agency, known as ARPA-H, that will end cancer as we know it, and help find new cures and treatments to many other difficult diseases.

"It also demonstrates that the administration remains laser-focused on tackling the climate crisis; addressing the nation's mental health crisis; and helping to end the crisis in Ukraine – all while creating new jobs and helping our economy grow even more.

"In releasing this plan today, the president has shown where his priorities lie. I look forward to working with the administration to make this vision of a better, brighter future a reality for millions of Americans."
