DeGette statement on President Zelensky’s remarks to joint meeting of Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following is a statement from U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO) on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s address to a joint meeting of Congress this evening:

“President Zelensky and the people of Ukraine are fighting not only to defend their own country, but to defend democracy around the world. Through their bravery and ingenuity, the people of Ukraine have achieved what many believed was impossible just a few months ago. Their unwavering resolve on the front lines of this fight deserves widespread global admiration and support.

“Giving up on Ukraine now would be giving up on the very idea of democracy – and the very principles that our own nation was founded upon. Now is not the time to walk away from this fight. Now is the time to help bring it to an end by ensuring Ukraine has all the support it needs to defend itself from Putin’s aggression until victory is won.”
