DeGette statement on the need for a cessation of hostilities
Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO) released the following statement regarding the evolving conflict in Israel:
“Given the escalation of violence against innocent civilians and the ever-growing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the need for an immediate joint cessation of hostilities is more urgent than ever. This will allow the United States and the international community to surge humanitarian aid to those who desperately need it. It will allow negotiations to continue regarding the safe release of the remaining hostages, and it will end the barrage of rockets into Israel. Most critically, it will save lives.
“I am heartened that President Biden and his administration are delivering aid to the region and making progress towards a ceasefire. I urge all parties to continue their work expeditiously. We do not have time to waste.”
