DeGette Statement On Latest Syria Developments

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette (CO-1) issued the following statement on the latest developments regarding Syria:

"As developments regarding a course of action against Syria continue to evolve, I am looking forward to hearing the President's address to the American people this evening. I continue to weigh evidence I have received in two briefings and will monitor ongoing developments as I determine what role the United States should pursue.

"I am pleased the focus seems to have shifted towards the possibility of a diplomatic solution. The new proposal for independent review and possible handover of chemical weapons to an international body seems to be advancing, and with Syria's agreement today, I hope the proposal is indeed a legitimate one. If there is a serious effort at diplomacy, it is incumbent upon us to pursue that path."
