DeGette statement on humanitarian pause

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO) released the following statement:

“Israel has the right to defend its citizens from Hamas’ terrorism. As it does so, it must make every effort to minimize harm to innocent civilians.

“It is time for a humanitarian pause to allow safe and swift assistance including food, water, medicine, fuel, and electricity to civilians in Gaza.

“Any pause must be agreed to by both Israel and Hamas. Hamas must provide assurances they will not siphon off aid for their terrorist purposes and, as part of this pause, all remaining hostages should be released.”
