DeGette Statement on Gonzales Resignation

WASHINGTON, DC - Chief Deputy Whip Diana DeGette (D-CO) today offeredthe following statement on the resignation of Attorney General AlbertoGonzales:
"The resignation of Attorney General Alberto Gonzalesis long overdue," said DeGette. "The political games the BushAdministration has played with our justice system have put itscredibility into doubt. The Attorney General has not only lost theconfidence of Congress, but has also abused the trust of the Americanpeople.
"It is crucial that President Bush use this opportunityto nominate a candidate who will restore the public's trust in ourjudicial system."
