DeGette statement on election of Speaker of the House

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO) released the following statement on Kevin McCarthy being elected Speaker of the House:

“Democrats have been united and ready to get to work for the people since day one. Sadly, our Republican colleagues have wasted a precious week that we could have been working for the people.  

“While I’m glad they have finally decided who will be their Speaker, I am more worried than ever about what this prolonged fight means for our ability to get things done with a GOP majority for the next two years.”
