DeGette Statement On The 50th Anniversary Of The March On Washington
August 28, 2013
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette (CO-01) released the following statement commemorating the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington:
On the hallowed steps of the Lincoln Memorial, fifty years ago today, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered an historic call to action for a peaceful movement toward equal rights in the face of fierce and violent opposition. This message resonates today as it did five decades ago. We must take this moment to reflect on the strides we have made as a nation and the many hurdles that still exist. This occasion is an opportunity to renew our commitment to realize Dr. King's dream and stand united in the struggle for full equality and justice for all Americans.
