Pledges to Fight Bush Administration for Adequate Funding of SCHIP


WASHINGTON,DC – As Congress prepares to reconvene to continue work on the StateChildren's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), Energy and CommerceCommittee Vice Chair Diana DeGette (D-CO) today applauded Colorado'scommitment to children's health care while pledging to fight inCongress for the adequate funding for SCHIP.

"While our stateis committed to providing health care coverage to thousands of kids,Colorado's partnership with the federal government will become everstronger with an improved Children's Health Insurance Program, whichwill cover nearly 100,000 children statewide," said DeGette. "I applaudGovernor Ritter's dedication at the state level to ensure that everychild eligible for the program participates. Along with stategovernment leaders, children's health care advocates statewide have putneeded pressure on Congress to support this wildly successful program.
