DeGette to convene hearing of COVID-19 vaccine makers
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO), chair of the House Energy and Commerce Oversight and Investigations panel – which oversees the nation’s health agencies – announced today that the subcommittee will hold a hearing on Tuesday, February 23, to hear directly from the five leading manufacturers of COVID-19 vaccines on their efforts to ramp up production.
Officials from AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Novavax, and Pfizer have all been called to testify at the fully remote hearing.
“We currently have two safe and effective vaccines authorized for use here in the U.S. and more could soon be on the way,” DeGette said, “but there is still considerable work to be done. This hearing will give us a chance to hear directly from the manufacturers of these vaccines on their efforts to scale up production so that every American can be vaccinated in the coming months.”
Additional details regarding the hearing will be announced next week.
