TRANSCRIPT:

Hi, it’s Diana DeGette.

I’m hearing from thousands of constituents who are outraged, shocked, and scared about what’s happening in Washington. This is an unprecedented time, and I am fighting back against the unconstitutional assault on our democracy.

House Republicans are moving forward with a budget proposal that would give tax cuts to the uber-wealthy at the expense of over 120,000 Medicaid beneficiaries and 31,000 SNAP recipients in Denver.

This Administration and Republicans in Congress are showing their true colors by putting billionaires like Elon Musk over the most vulnerable Americans.

Elon Musk is an unelected billionaire who has been given sweeping power under the false promise of making government work better.

But as we’re seeing, nothing could be further from the truth. It’s Hurricane Musk—gutting USAID, freezing Treasury payments, and targeting federal employees. And Trump and Elon have promised to target other agencies.

We are not going to stand by and allow Elon Musk to secretly strip away our privacy and the services millions rely on.

Luckily, legal and political opposition are building. There are now over 55 pending lawsuits against Trump’s executive orders and administrative actions across the country. And the courts are responding.

This week, several cases against the Administration have stalled the illegal freeze of federal funding, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's "stop work order" was halted after Trump attempted to gut consumer protections, and the Inspectors General who Trump fired are suing for wrongful termination.

This is the pattern we’re going to keep seeing. The courts are blocking these elements of the Trump-Musk agenda, and I’m doing my part in Congress.

I’ve joined letters to stop Musk’s hostile takeover of key agencies, like the CFPB and IRS, and a letter to reverse the NIH's slash of medical research funding. I also signed a letter standing with our transgender service members, who are once again under attack by Donald Trump.

And, I was just named to the Litigation Task Force of the Democrats in Congress to help look at ways we can help with this litigation.

But this fight isn’t over. We will keep holding the line—for our democracy, for our institutions, and for my constituents.
