Discussion Draft for Comment
As a champion of the Colorado Wilderness Act, I believe there are many cherished wild places across Colorado that must be protected for generations to come. I have been working on this important piece of legislation since 1999. It is my pleasure to now present an updated draft and to seek public comment.
Colorado has a remarkable outdoor heritage among all our special wild places that I have had the privilege of experiencing – including hiking, camping, and fishing. I strongly believe we must be aggressive in conserving these public lands across our state while striking a balance with economic development. It is my hope that our children and grandchildren will continue to experience the Colorado we love and cherish today.
Because I believe this process is important, your views will be taken into consideration as we move forward with the Colorado Wilderness Act of 2009.
I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your input and support.
Sincerely,
Diana DeGette
Member of Congress
